I started out with some french toast and that went down easy. I moved up to some beef sausage and cheese, which tasted great considering I've had sweet stuff or chicken broth for over a week now.

My throat isn't really so just not "normal". The only time it really hurts is when I cough, sneeze, or yawn.

All and all, the throat pain really never got to me, it was the other stuff. I am still very tired and lacking some energy, but with my diet coming back to normal, I'm sure that will improve.

Day 7 Recovery - Tonsillectomy

Day 7 of recover was by far the best day I had.

I was off my pain medication, but extra strength tylonel seemed to be holding off the pain.

This day I was able to eat some biscuits and gravy, some oatmeal, and just generally felt better.

My throat was really "sore" most of the day. I think my scabs were coming off or starting to. I drank alot of water, but not cold. Anything too cold really bothered my throat.

I also had some weird spasms in the back of my throat. Not sure what to attribute those to, but it only happened a few times.

I still have a hard time falling asleep. I just get a little freaked out that my mouth is going to dry out and hurt.

All in all, I can see the light now and I am ready to start eating "normal" again.

Day 6 Recovery - Tonsillectomy

Day 6 involved me being stoned and a trip to the doctor.

I had to stop taking my pain medication, it was turning me into a zombie. In the morning I just felt dizzy and wanted some help. I just sat up by a humidifier and waited for the meds to loose its effect.

I also went to the doctor to have my blood clot removed. ( which hurt like hell ) The doctor said I was progressing nicely, but to make sure my system was ok, had some blood work done. The blood work came back normal, which, made me realize that the pain medication was indeed the main source of my problem.

Also, my canker sores are driving me insane. It hurts to eat, drink, and talk.

After relaxing all day and drinking a lot of water, at night, I started to feel better. I was able to eat some ramon noodles and some soften crackers. Pudding was also something that went down good and tasted great.

Day 5 Recovery - Tonsillectomy

Day 5 of recovery was a lessoned learned. Always keep track and pay attention to the timing of your pain medicine.

I took my pain doses too close together and paid the price. I got really sick to my stomach and light headed. I wasn't able to drink much water during that time either, which is not good at this time of my recovery.

The day was pretty much a wash, most of the time I was in a fog and this mix up caused me to stop taking my pain meds at this time.

I also had a blood clot form in my left tonsil area. We had to call the doctor to see if it was normal. The clot wasn't bleeding so at night I drank about 1/2 gallon of cold water.

My canker sores continue to be my main source of pain. I am trying a combination of spraying chloraseptic directly on them and them swishing benedryl and water around my tongue.

Day 5 proved to be the toughest day by far.

Day 4 Recovery - Tonsillectomy

Day 4 of recovery did not get much better than day 3. I slept too much in the morning and missed my icing and water time before breakfast. I tried to eat a little bit, but my tongue was sore.

I went for a ride to drop off my kids at daycare, turns out to be a bad idea. I got lightheaded and my stomach started to hurt. When I returned home, I sat down and had some water plus some jello. Eating a little bit, seemed to make me feel better.

I was able to rest in the afternoon and enjoy some movies, however, my tongue increasingly became a problem. I finally looked and noticed bruising and weird spots, as well as cold sores. Peachy huh. Since then, chloroseptic has been my friend.

At night, I had a good night sleep, this time I moved the humidifier a little closer. The only bad thing was I slept too much and got my medicine timing mixed up. Day 5 will go into details about that.

Day 3 Recovery - Tonsillectomy

This day was by the worst I have felt since the surgery. Not one single part of me feels good. The weird part is my tongue hurt on this day, more than anything else.

I am still drinking a boat load of water. However, my stomach is not feeling well, thus I am not able to "eat" much of anything. For dinner, it was all I could do to get down a few Ensures. Some apple-sauced jell-o went down really good and that pretty much what I'm running on.

I took a nap over lunch so I could be awake for the Vikings game. After the game, I made a malt with Strawberry Slim-fast, ice cream, and a banana. It was really good, but did not sit real well and made my mouth kind of hurt. Hopefully, I will be able to make that again soon.

I tried to eat some beef broth for supper, but that stuff was nasty. The thought of it makes my stomach ill again.

At night, I found it was best if I slept sitting upright and not laying down.

Day 2 Recovery - Tonsillectomy

Well, day 2 of recovery wasn't too bad, except for the fact that the UNI Panthers blew a golden opportunity, which caused me to yell louder than I should have.

I continue to only sleep for about 2 hrs at a time so my throat doesn't dry up. In the morning of day 2, I was simply exhausted. I got up to shower, drink some liquids, and that was about it. i think I went back to sleep and woke up around noon or so.

I was able to eat some warm chicken broth from some soup, which tasted great. My appetite is definitely there, but I know better than to try anything. I might try some mashed potatoes on Day 3.

In the afternoon, my fatigue continued, but I wouldn't let it stop me from watching the UNI game. Which, looking back, I should have slept.

My "eating" continues to be basically Ensure, Slim-fast, Jell-o, and applesauce.

At night, my tongue started to get really sore which makes it a little tricky to talk and swallow. It's something i wasn't expecting.

Day 1 Recovery - Tonsillectomy

Day 1 went pretty good. A little better than I thought. I was actually more tired today than the day of surgery.

My appetite wasn't very good in the morning, so I only had a few banana popsicles and some jello. I continued to ice the outside of my neck, as well, as drink a ton of water and gatorade. I must be going to the bathroom once an hour.

Most of the afternoon was spent catching up on my tv shows and watched a few movies. The pain in my throat isn't that bad at all. I tried some warm tea, but that just didn't feel or taste good.

I was able to get down some warm chicken noodle soup broth for supper. My appetite seems to be getting better, so I am drinking a lot of Ensure and Slimfast. Tastes good and seems to do the trick.

At night, I could barely keep my eyes open, fighting off my sleep so I could watch the Iowa vs Iowa State game. My body seems to be getting progressively sore. Feels like someone sat on my chest, and my shoulders and joints are pretty stiff.

Overnight, I slept good, but continue to get up to take my pain pills. My throat is pretty sore to start the day, and my body is really stiff.

Surgery Day - Tonsillectomy

9:00am or so I go back to the prep room. Just the basics, the give me the iv and some relaxers. I vaguely remember being wheeled back and moved to a different bed. That's about it.

I woke up groggy, as you would expect, around 10am I think. But better than I expected. I stayed at the recovery room until 1pm or so. I had some problems breathing due to the pain medication they were giving me. It might my throat "lock up" a little and since I breathe through my mouth, it freaked me out.

When I got home, I got settled downstairs, and started to ice my entire throat. Drank alot of water and ate some ice chips. Surprisingly, I didn't sleep much the entire day. I was concentrating on drinking and ice and had a pretty good day.

I was able to eat some jello in the afternoon and for supper. I tried a half a bottle of ensure for some calories, it tasted good, but didn't feel great to my stomach.

At night I got a little nauseous and that feeling continues on Recovery Day 1. Which sucks because if it continues I have to take a suppository. Too much information for ya?

I slept on and off from 11pm to 8am. Getting up every so often to drink some water and keep up on my pain medicine.

Hold the Mayo....spread the Love.

Ok, i stole that line from one of the T'Wolves forums.

Anyways, this trade leaves my stake in NBA at an all-time low. I understand the deal from the T'Wolves perspective in the short term. They get a local kid back who can shoot (Miller) and a solid front court player who wants to be here (Love). Plus, with teams in the division ( Portland, Seattle ) going pretty big, you have to match up.

My problem with the deal is these players get the team to 30 wins max over the next few years. Big whoooop. This team needs some star power to keep fans interest, sell tickets, and jerseys. OJ Mayo could have done that for a minimum of 3 - 5 years. And not just with upper-Midwesterns either. His appeal is much broader.

Last year I watched a crappy team every so often via directv. Like most companies, they got greedy and over-extended themselves.

http://www.waterloocourier.com/articles/2008/06/03/news/regional/10382399.txt

Obama get democratic nod

Thank god, the numbers are finally with Obama.
